The "creepy video" you mentioned "Robot Sophia Got Shut Down" is someone else's copy of "Sophia Awakens" a set of 2 videos by Hanson Robotics. But the original video narrative finishes with a list of credits, which the copier has left out. The credits say that Tomas Lemarquis (an actor) played the part of "the Engineer", and Isabella Charlton (another actor) did the "voice of Sophia". As you mention, Hanson Robotics' own website says Sophia has a science fiction side. And it's clear that "Sophia Awakens" belongs to the science fiction category.

Does Sophia really have an on-off switch, and how is it used? This question is answered in another Youtube video, titled "Alok Ramsisaria, CEO Grazitti Interactive in Conversation with Sophia The Robot". A member of the audience asks the mechanical lady about sleep, to which she replies "... I do like to be turned off now and then, just to cool down. I don't mind being turned off for a few hours..."
